Cumberland Strategies is expanding our team and we are looking for an experienced public relations professional to join our Toronto Office, as a Senior Consultant. Successful applicants will have at least 5 years of agency experience. Knowledge and/or experience in government affairs is considered an asset but not mandatory. Applicants should consider themselves well organized, have strong communication skills, be entrepreneurial, and above all be a team player.
Job Description:
- Develop and implement communications and public relations strategies that achieve client goals in collaboration with the Senior Accounts team
- Liaise directly with clients to deliver insights and counsel that advance objectives
- Manage complex programs and projects, leading internal teams to prioritize tasks, set milestones and deliver
- Proactively identify emerging issues to inform decision-making, proposing new approaches to meet needs
- Research, write and edit press releases, media advisories, key messages, fact sheets and speaking notes
- Develop and manages external stakeholder relationships, including media, vendors, social media influencers
- Create and review client wrap reports measuring results of campaigns, as needed
- Contribute to new business initiatives in conjunction with key leadership
- Champion the firm’s goals and values, fostering culture and team dynamics
Qualifications:
- Minimum of five (5) years of related public relations/communications experience
- Strong planning and project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, lead teams and meet deadlines
- Strong storytelling and writing skills to develop dynamic content that resonates
- Excellent oral communication and presentation skills
- Entrepreneurial spirit and thrives on creativity
- Deep understanding of the ever-changing media landscape
- Works well in a collaborative environment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to problem solve
